Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill On Writing

When I saw that they were trying to make Locke and Key… again, I didn’t want to hold my breath. This is a project I’ve had major excitement for ever since I saw the original pilot, and I just felt like it was stuck in development hell. This has actually happened with some of my most anticipated shows and films. When I found out Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill were the creators that changed everything. Their majorly successful shows about two very creepy mansions might help you understand why. It’s like this project was born for them. Carlton Cuse made Bates Motel and Meredith Averill made Haunting of Hill House. What a team up!

If you loved this show as much as I did then I’m sure you’ll find this interview to be very interesting. They discuss why the project was in development for so long, the actual creation of the prop keys, and the challenges of creating a mature fantasy. There’s a lot of great bits. The interview was conducted by Christina Radish at Collider.
