Charlie Brooker On Writing

I’ve posted about Charlie Brooker in the past: In-Depth Interview – Charlie Brooker. I’m a HUGE fan of Black Mirror, and love what they tried to do with Bandersnatch, the newest Black Mirror experience. If you haven’t heard of this new experience, it’s an episode where you choose your own story. Every time the main character, Stefan, is given a choice to make, you make it for him. It’s kind of like playing a video game.

I watched through this episode twice and have mixed feelings about it, but I did have a lot of fun making some of the decisions. It certainly has a special element to it, and I’d like to see more shows or movies try this out. That being said, this may not be for everyone because part of the joy of sitting down to watch a movie or some TV is the fact that you are being told a story and are not the one telling it. I think everyone should give it a try at least.
